A turnaround from a map behind and a 7-13 deficit on the decider saw Cloud9 complete the massive upset in the first-ever Juggernaut-Colossus encounter.
With a 2-1 victory over Complexity, the Alex "ALEX" McMeekin-led squad continues its redemption story at the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown as they're now one victory away from a place at the Fall Finals. In the deciding semi-final series, Cloud9 will face MOUZ on Sunday at 19:30 .
Complexity got off successfully in the series on Nuke after a troublesome first half on the CT side, managing to pick up a close victory on the first map. Despite winning the first pistol and two more ecos during the first half, the Benjamin "blameF" Bremer-led squad went over to the offense with just five to their name, but huge individual displays from the in-game leader as well as Justin "jks" Savage and Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke helped them come back into contention once sides switched.
k0nfig picked up a second pistol quad-kill of the map in the second pistol round and jks followed it up with a 1v2 clutch in the first gunround, while blameF triumphed in two separate 1v2 clutches himself as the opener went the distance, with Complexity coming out on top 16-13 off their incredible clutch play.
Cloud9 answered with a rather dominant display on Mirage despite getting off to a slow start on the CT side. Down 1-5, ALEX & co. tightened up the defense to go on a big run and end the half 8-7 in their favor, and they remained in the driving seat on the offense. After turning around a couple of 3v5 situations, Cloud9 reached map point without an answer from Complexity and forced the deciding map two rounds later.
blameF's side looked to answer back on Dust2, where they got off to a great start on the CT side with some more great pistol and clutch play, this time featuring William "RUSH" Wierzba. Everything looked great for Complexity even after the teams exchanged sides, with the favored team winning a forcebuy to gain control and lead the deciding map 13-7, but Cloud9 kicked into another gear.
The huge comeback began with Ricky "floppy" Kemery's Deagle triple on B, and things started spiraling out of control for Complexity, with a double AWP setup in the hands of Özgür "woxic" Eker and Patrick "es3tag" Hansen standing in their way. Cloud9 went on to call a couple of stacks towards the B bombsite when it came to crunch time at 12-14, a decision that paid its dividends as that's where the Juggernaut went in three out of the last four rounds, much to their demise.
